ORGANISERS of the Australian Safari offroad rally have announced that, after a two-year absence, the event will return next year and for the first time will be run in Western Australia.
The provisional course for the week-long event has vehicles starting in Kununurra in the Kimberleys and heading south, taking in Halls Creek, Broome, Port Hedland, Newman, Mount Magnet and Kalgoorlie to finish in Perth.Scheduled to run from August 17-25, the event is open to motorcycles and four-wheeled vehicles.Sean Nicholls, a spokesman for event promotions company Octagon, says entries are expected from local and international competitors. And because of the strong overseas following, the Safari will be promoted throughout Asia with a roadshow visiting China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia.
